Carmenita Peoples is an artistic performer, writer, and credentialed Montessori educator. She currently serves as part-time staff at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and educational consultant with CPS (Chicago Public Schools). Her company, Innovative Art and Education, LLC, works with schools, organizations, and general public to offer Diversity, Equity, Inclusion programming through performance art. As a graduate of The Second City Training Center musical conservatory, improv, and writing programs, Carmenita uses her artistry to bridge inter-cultural and generational gaps. She is also a writer of children’s stories and plays. She produces a quarterly storytelling show called Family Reunion, featuring tellers throughout the Black diaspora. A dreamer, a seeker, a mother, and a friend, Carmenita can be seen “edutaining” audiences throughout the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. She is one of the featured storytellers in Chicago Storytellers from Stage to Page and Storyteller’s True Love Stories. Her mantra is, “Connecting cousins one story at a time.”
